Why This System
The Deceuninck platform underpins Winsa profiles - consistent multi-chamber construction, lead-free uPVC formulation stabilised for long UV service life, and EPDM seal compatibility. For a window cleaner working across Turkish cities, Winsa is the most commonly encountered uPVC profile brand. Getting the cleaning approach right here means getting it right on the majority of uPVC windows encountered on Turkish residential jobs.
Winsa uPVC is engineered for long service life, but the material is not tolerant of abrasive cleaning, solvent products, or high-alkaline detergents. Turkish coastal sites add salt air loading that accelerates weep hole blocking and deposits on profile faces. Continental interior sites produce heavy soiling from dust, pollution, and winter road salt on lower-floor and ground-level installations.

The Orloffs Protocol
This is how I clean Winsa (Deceuninck Turkey) windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Winsa (Deceuninck Turkey) systems.
Pro Tools
My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.
Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every Winsa (Deceuninck Turkey) installation.
- 1
1. Pre-rinse frames and glass with clean water, especially on coastal sites where salt deposits are present.
- 2
2. Apply pH-neutral cleaning solution to glass. On Winsa uPVC frames, apply a small amount of pH-neutral solution on a damp microfibre cloth - do not saturate the frame.
- 3
3. Squeegee glass from top to bottom with clean blade. On large residential panels common in Turkish apartment construction, work in sections.
- 4
4. Wipe Winsa uPVC profiles with the damp microfibre cloth in the direction of extrusion. Do not use circular scrubbing motions - this transfers grit across the profile face.
- 5
5. Clear weep holes with a soft brush. Inspect EPDM seals at glazing perimeters for any cracking or lifting - note to building manager if found.
Pro Tips
- Winsa profiles share Deceuninck chemistry - any uPVC cleaner certified compatible with Deceuninck is safe on Winsa.
- Istanbul pollution deposits a fine greasy film on south and west-facing elevations. Allow solution to dwell 30 seconds longer than usual on these orientations.
- Turkish summer heat means cleaning solution dries faster on exposed upper floors. Work in the morning or in shade, and clean in smaller sections to prevent solution drying before squeegee.
What NOT To Do
- Do not use abrasive pads or scouring powder on Winsa uPVC profiles - the surface scratches permanently.
- Do not use solvent-based cleaners near Winsa EPDM seals or frame faces.
- Do not pressure wash Winsa frames directly - water forced into weep channels and joints bypasses the drainage design.

Field Notes
βWinsa is the default uPVC on Turkish residential projects. On apartment block contracts in Istanbul, Ankara, or Izmir, the probability that the uPVC frames are Winsa-profiled is high enough that treating all uPVC as Winsa-standard is a reasonable baseline. This simplifies product selection and crew briefing on large residential maintenance contracts.β
