Why This System
Wideline's NSW focus means their product range is calibrated for Sydney conditions - the coastal salt exposure across the greater Sydney basin, the summer UV, and the significant temperature variation between the western suburbs and the coast. Family ownership over 50-plus years has maintained consistent product quality in the mid-range residential sector. Wideline frames from the 1990s are still in regular service - cleaning these frames requires awareness of aged powder coat. Wideline stacker doors are a point of difference - the stacking panel system has different track requirements from standard sliding doors and needs track cleaning at every service.
Step 1 of 2: Manufacturer Recommendations
Official Care Guidance
Source: ORLOFFS PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE - BASED ON 25 YEARS FIELD EXPERIENCE ON NSW ALUMINIUM SYSTEMS
Glass
- Pre-rinse glass with clean water before applying cleaning solution - salt film pre-rinse is standard practice across the Sydney basin.
- pH-neutral glass cleaning solution. Squeegee top to bottom, overlap strokes, wipe rubber after each pull.
- Inspect glazing seals at every service - particularly on Wideline windows over 15 years old.
Aluminium Frames
- Soft cloth dampened in pH-neutral solution. Work top to bottom. Rinse thoroughly.
- Do not use abrasive pads on any Wideline powder-coated frame, especially older stock.
- Photograph chalking and corrosion spots on older frames before cleaning.
Tracks and Stacker Systems
- Brush and clear all track channels before introducing water. Stacker door tracks accumulate grit and organic debris faster than window tracks.
- Apply silicone lubricant to all sliding and stacker track surfaces after cleaning.
- Clear weep holes - blocked weep holes on NSW properties cause water pooling during summer storm rainfall.
Step 2 of 2: The Orloffs Protocol
The Orloffs Protocol
This is how I clean Wideline Windows & Doors windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Wideline Windows & Doors systems.
Pro Tools
My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.
Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every Wideline Windows & Doors installation.
- 1
Pre-rinse
Rinse glass and frames with clean water. Standard practice across the Sydney basin.
- 2
Track prep
Brush and clear all sliding and stacker tracks before water cleaning.
- 3
Glass and frame cleaning
pH-neutral solution, squeegee, wipe frames. Rinse frames thoroughly.
- 4
Track lubrication and close-out
Apply silicone to all tracks. Clear weep holes. Inspect seals. Document defects.
Pro Tips
- On Sydney coastal properties, apply a water repellent glass treatment after cleaning - it extends the interval before salt film makes glass visibly dirty and is a strong up-sell on premium accounts
- Wideline stacker doors with four or more panels take significantly longer to clean than standard sliding windows - quote them separately when pricing a property
What NOT To Do
- Do not use abrasive pads on Wideline powder-coated frames - older stock especially
- Do not skip pre-rinsing across the Sydney market
- Do not leave cleaning solution residue on frames in direct summer sun
- Do not force stiff stacker panels - note the issue and advise the client

Frequently Asked Questions
Field Notes
โSydney's eastern suburbs and northern beaches properties accumulate salt film within 2 to 3 weeks in persistent onshore wind periods. These clients benefit from a 4-week service interval during summer. Wideline stacker doors in western Sydney properties show more dust accumulation in the track channels than coastal equivalents - inland westerlies carry significant dust loading in summer.โ
