Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every Svenska Fönster installation.

1. Identify frame type - timber or wood-alu - before selecting cleaning products

2. Rinse top-to-bottom with pure water, paying attention to masonry-to-frame junctions on renovation properties

3. Clean frames with appropriate product - neutral for timber, standard for aluminium outer

4. Squeegee glass in overlapping strokes
- 5
5. Detail rebates and sills, clear drainage holes in the aluminium outer sill if present
Pro Tips
- Renovation properties often have old putty or mastic at the masonry-frame joint - do not disturb or clean aggressively around these
- Swedish summer UV is intense - don't leave cleaning solution on frames in direct sun
- Check tilt-and-turn hardware on older installations - hardware may be from a previous window generation
What NOT To Do
- Do not use solvent cleaners near mastic or sealant joints in renovation installations
- Do not apply pressure to old casement hardware - test before operating
- Do not use abrasive pads on any painted timber surface
