Why This System

Quickslide's West Yorkshire location means their products are specified across a region with some of the highest rainfall in England. The drainage and weathering performance of sliding sash windows in West Yorkshire conditions is more demanding than in drier southern counties - cleaning cycles need to reflect this. Quickslide contemporary sliding sash designs use a flush outer face on the sash - similar to a flush casement, the sash face sits level with the outer frame. This removes the traditional drip edge on the sash and concentrates drainage at the bottom rail. The complete in-house production at Quickslide means the profile, hardware, glazing, and finishing are all consistent within their system - there is less fabricator variation than with profile-only suppliers.

Pro Tips

  • On traditional Quickslide sashes with many small astragal pane sections, work a consistent pattern - top left to bottom right of the upper sash, then top left to bottom right of the lower sash. Consistency prevents missed panes
  • In West Yorkshire, check the meeting rail for mould growth at every visit - the combination of damp climate and the meeting rail geometry creates a reliable mould growth point
  • When cleaning Quickslide contemporary flush sash systems, treat the drainage at the bottom rail as the priority check at the end of every visit - flush with clean water to confirm drainage is clear before leaving

What NOT To Do

  • Do not tilt both Quickslide sashes simultaneously
  • Do not saturate brush pile draught seals at the meeting rail
  • Do not use bleach, chlorine, or solvent cleaners on any Quickslide uPVC surface
  • Do not use abrasive pads on the frame or sash face
  • Do not force a stiff sash - check balance condition before applying force
  • Do not pressure wash the sash channel grooves - high pressure forces grime into the balance mechanism

Field Notes

โ€œQuickslide windows in West Yorkshire properties face some of the most demanding UK weather conditions. Clean monthly in exposed positions - fortnightly for ground-floor windows near busy roads in Bradford or Leeds. The astragal bar detailing on traditional Quickslide sashes creates many small pane sections, each needing individual attention. Budget extra time on the first visit to a traditional Quickslide property. Contemporary Quickslide flush sash windows in new-build Northern England homes are an increasingly common specification. The flush outer face on the contemporary range requires the same drainage attention as Spectus flush casements.โ€
