Why This System

BSI and SKZ certification means the raw profile compound meets defined standards for UV resistance, impact strength, and dimensional tolerance. This matters to cleaners because a certified profile is more predictable - it is less likely to chalk, crack, or yellow when cleaned correctly. However, the fabricator using the profile determines the finished window quality.

Prominance profiles are supplied to a wide network of fabricators - some excellent, some not. The cleaning approach is governed by the profile quality, which is consistent, but also by the fabricator's seal and hardware choices, which vary. Gujarat and western India face dry heat, high UV, and dust; other regions served face monsoon loading.

Official Care Guidance

No official guide published. The steps below are based on Justin Orloff's 25 years hands-on experience with this system.

Step 2 of 2: The Orloffs Protocol

The Orloffs Protocol

This is how I clean Prominance Windows windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Prominance Windows systems.

Pro Tools

My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.

1Ettore Squeegee 14"
2Unger HiFlo Pure Water Pole
3Moerman Liquidator
4Boab Belt System

Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every Prominance Windows installation.

  1. 1

    1. Identify the fabricator if possible - fabricator quality affects hardware and seal type.

  2. 2

    2. Pre-rinse frames with clean water to remove dust loading.

  3. 3

    3. Apply pH-neutral detergent; clean glass top to bottom.

  4. 4

    4. Wipe frames with microfibre along the profile length.

  5. 5

    5. Clear weep holes and check seal condition at frame corners.

Pro Tips

  • Gujarat dry heat: profiles expand and contract significantly - check corner joints for dust accumulation in the gaps.
  • BSI-certified profiles have better UV resistance, but direct Ahmedabad sun still demands a gentle approach - no solvent cleaners.
  • If you cannot identify the fabricator, treat the window as standard uPVC and proceed with pH-neutral products.

What NOT To Do

  • Do not assume all windows made from Prominance profiles are equal - fabricator skill varies widely.
  • Do not use abrasive pads even on BSI-certified profiles.
  • Do not use alkaline cleaners on uPVC regardless of certification.

Field Notes

โ€œWhen encountering a Prominance-profile window through a fabricator, the profile itself is reliably made. The variable is the rest of the window: seal quality, hardware grade, and corner joining method. Always inspect before cleaning and report any defect to the client - if seals are failing, a clean will not fix it.โ€
