Why This System
Pollard has been producing windows since 1948 - you will encounter their products across a very wide age range in the Golden Horseshoe. Older uPVC will show yellowing and UV degradation that is a material condition, not a cleaning failure. Older aluminium may show anodising or paint breakdown. Know the difference between cleaning results and material age before you take on a job. The Burlington and broader Golden Horseshoe climate is influenced by Lake Ontario - moderate cold, high humidity, and significant freeze-thaw cycling through the winter-spring transition. Track drainage and seal integrity are perennial maintenance priorities.

The Orloffs Protocol
This is how I clean Pollard Windows & Doors windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Pollard Windows & Doors systems.

Pro Tips
- When quoting older Pollard replacement windows, note the frame colour and surface condition at the quote visit - this sets expectations and protects you from complaints about yellowing that was present before you arrived
- Carry a short product description sheet that explains UV yellowing to clients - it comes up often on older Ontario uPVC windows and a written explanation is more convincing than a verbal one
What NOT To Do
- Do not attempt to restore yellowed uPVC with abrasive products - UV degradation is a material condition, not a cleaning issue
- Do not use abrasive pads on uPVC or aluminium frames
- Do not use solvent-based products on uPVC
- Do not skip condition assessment on older units before beginning work

Field Notes
โPollard has been operating since 1948 - you will encounter very old product in the field. Document the condition of any unit over 20 years old before cleaning and set clear expectations with clients about what cleaning can and cannot achieve on aged uPVC. Golden Horseshoe freeze-thaw cycling means track clearing and seal inspection are standard items on every spring visit regardless of the brand.โ
