Why This System
The fibreglass co-extrusion process means the reinforcement is integral to the frame profile rather than inserted separately. This produces a more consistent thermal break across the frame section - the frame does not have the differential expansion point where a steel insert meets the vinyl. Ontario Great Lakes humidity means vinyl windows here accumulate mould and mildew staining in frame channels and at drainage points faster than in drier Prairie climates. Track cleaning intervals need to reflect this. Lake-effect snow deposits heavy wet snow loads on sills and in track channels. The weight of wet snow compresses weatherstrips and packs tracks in ways that light dry Prairie snow does not.

Pro Tips
- On properties in the Ontario snow belt, ask the client at booking whether they had heavy lake-effect snow events - this lets you budget the right time for spring track clearing
- Always rinse bleach treatment thoroughly from vinyl frames and tracks - bleach residue left on vinyl accelerates colour change and brittle surface development
What NOT To Do
- Do not use abrasive pads on vinyl or co-extruded fibreglass-reinforced frames
- Do not use solvent-based cleaning products on any vinyl surface
- Do not pressure wash into frame joints or weep holes
- Do not skip spring track clearing after lake-effect snow seasons

Frequently Asked Questions
Field Notes
โOntario properties near the Great Lakes - particularly in the snow belt south of Georgian Bay and east of Lake Huron - need spring track clearing built into every quote. Lake-effect snow packs tracks in ways that are not common in other Canadian regions. Mould and mildew in frame channels is more common in Ontario than in drier Prairie climates. A dilute bleach treatment on affected channels at the spring clean is often part of a thorough service on older Ontario properties.โ
