Why This System

Liniar profiles are designed around UK conditions - the drainage channel geometry, chamber arrangement, and seal specification reflect the persistent damp of British winters rather than being adapted from continental European specifications. The lead-free uPVC formulation uses alternative stabilisers - this is important for long-term yellowing resistance, but it also means the surface chemistry is slightly different from older lead-stabilised profiles. pH-neutral cleaning is the safe approach across all generations. Liniar's integrated dummy sash option means some windows appear to have more panels than they actually open - cleaners who are unfamiliar with the system may try to operate a dummy sash. Always check before applying any leverage.

Step 2 of 2: The Orloffs Protocol

The Orloffs Protocol

This is how I clean Liniar windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Liniar systems.

Pro Tips

  • Always pre-rinse Liniar frames with clean water before applying any cleaning solution - UK grime is dirtier than it looks and dragging it dry across the frame face causes micro-scratches
  • On UK coastal installations, check the outer frame corner joints for salt crystallisation - this accumulates at joints first and is the earliest indicator of how aggressive the salt air loading is at that property
  • If a Liniar window shows mould in the rebate groove, flag it to the customer and note it in your visit record - this is a maintenance signal, not just a cosmetic issue

What NOT To Do

  • Do not use bleach, chlorine, or strong alkali cleaners on any uPVC frame surface
  • Do not use solvent-based products or acetone near uPVC profiles or rubber seals
  • Do not attempt to open dummy sash panels - verify which panels operate before applying any force
  • Do not use abrasive pads or scouring compounds on the frame face
  • Do not leave cleaning product residue in rebate grooves - rinse thoroughly after every clean

Field Notes

โ€œNorth-facing Liniar windows in the UK accumulate mould growth in the rebate groove faster than any other orientation - check and treat at every visit on these elevations. Coastal UK installations will show salt crystallisation on the outer frame face within 4 to 6 weeks of a clean. Pre-rinse with pure water before any cleaning solution contact to avoid grinding salt into the frame surface. UK new-build sites often have construction adhesive and silicone overspray on Liniar frames from the installation phase. Remove with a plastic scraper and warm soapy water - never with solvent.โ€
