Why This System

Fenplast's uPVC profiles are manufactured with UV stabilisers suited to Quebec's four-season UV exposure - lower average UV than tropical markets but with significant summer intensity and the added stress of UV reflection off winter snow. The commercial aluminium systems use thermal breaks - an insulating barrier within the aluminium profile that separates the cold exterior face from the interior. Thermal break aluminium requires different cleaning awareness at the frame junction than standard aluminium. Eastern Canadian frost accumulates on and around window frames during winter. When it thaws, it carries dirt, mineral deposits, and organic matter into the frame drainage channels. Spring cleaning in Quebec is heavier work than a standard maintenance visit.

Pro Tips

“Montreal road salt is carried by winter traffic onto building facades and window frames. The spring visit should include a deliberate rinse of all exposed aluminium surfaces before cleaning - salt residue is mildly corrosive on both powder-coat and anodised aluminium over time. Quebec commercial buildings with Fenplast curtain wall systems often have inaccessible lower frame sections behind landscaping. These sections accumulate debris and miss regular cleaning - include them explicitly in the service scope. After a Quebec ice storm, check all window hardware for ice infiltration before testing the mechanism. Forcing a locked handle on an ice-seized mechanism strips the locking cam.”
