Why This System

Fenesta controls quality from raw profile to installed window - rare in India's fragmented market. Their national service network means replacement seals and hardware are more accessible than for imported systems. The brand sits at the premium end of India's domestic window market.

Fenesta uPVC profiles are sensitive to abrasive cleaners and high-alkaline detergents. India's dust, monsoon grime, and UV combine to create a cleaning challenge: surface soiling is heavy, but the profiles need gentle handling. Aluminium frames on coastal installations will carry salt residue that accelerates corrosion if left on frame joints and weep holes.

Official Care Guidance

No official guide published. The steps below are based on Justin Orloff's 25 years hands-on experience with this system.

Step 2 of 2: The Orloffs Protocol

The Orloffs Protocol

This is how I clean Fenesta windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Fenesta systems.

Pro Tools

My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.

1Ettore Squeegee 14"
2Unger HiFlo Pure Water Pole
3Moerman Liquidator
4Boab Belt System

Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every Fenesta installation.

  1. 1

    1. Flush frames and sills with clean water to remove loose dust and monsoon grit before applying any detergent.

  2. 2

    2. Apply a pH-neutral solution to the glass and frames - avoid alkaline products on uPVC profiles.

  3. 3

    3. Work top to bottom: clean glass with squeegee, then wipe frames with a damp microfibre cloth.

  4. 4

    4. Clear all weep holes with a soft brush - monsoon debris blocks drainage and causes standing water behind frames.

  5. 5

    5. Final rinse of sills and drain channels; dry visible hardware with a cloth to prevent salt-air corrosion on coastal installations.

Pro Tips

  • Never clean in direct midday sun - India's UV dries solution before you can squeegee, leaving streaks.
  • Monsoon season: increase frequency to monthly - fungal growth on seals is common in high-humidity zones.
  • Use a cotton bud or soft brush on interlock channels - dust packs into sliding window tracks and causes seal wear.

What NOT To Do

  • Do not use abrasive pads or scouring powder on uPVC profiles - surface scratches trap dirt and degrade UV resistance.
  • Do not use solvent-based cleaners near rubber seals - seals dry out and crack.
  • Do not pressure wash directly into frame joints - forces water past seals into the wall cavity.

Field Notes

โ€œIn Delhi and NCR, winter fog combined with dust creates a cement-like film on glass. Soak the glass for 30 seconds before squeegeeing - do not scrape dry. In Mumbai and coastal Maharashtra, salt air attacks aluminium frame joints - check and clear weep holes every visit.โ€
