Why This System
Duranium alloy provides better corrosion resistance than standard 6063 extrusion alloy. For India's coastal and high-humidity markets, this matters. Hindalco produces the raw aluminium, which gives Eternia supply chain control unusual in the Indian window market.
Aluminium windows in India face two primary threats: monsoon moisture and salt air on coastal installations. Eternia's Duranium alloy is more resistant than standard aluminium, but it is not immune. The polyester powder coating on frames is the primary protection layer - aggressive cleaning removes the coating and exposes the alloy. All cleaning must be coating-safe.

This is how I clean Eternia (Hindalco) windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Eternia (Hindalco) systems.

My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.
Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every Eternia (Hindalco) installation.

1. Rinse frames with clean water - flush salt-air deposits and dust before applying detergent.

2. Apply pH-neutral detergent to glass and frames - never use acidic or high-alkaline products on powder-coated aluminium.

3. Clean glass top to bottom with squeegee using overlapping strokes.

4. Wipe aluminium frames with microfibre along the extrusion direction.

5. Clear weep holes and inspect sill drainage - aluminium sill drainage is critical in monsoon conditions.
Pro Tips
- Eternia powder coating is high quality - but never use abrasive pads even on stubborn marks. Dwell with detergent instead.
- Coastal Maharashtra and Gujarat: rinse aluminium weep holes and frame-to-glass gasket zones on every visit.
- Duranium alloy is more corrosion resistant than standard aluminium, but the threat zone is at gasket junctions and weep holes - these need to stay clear.
What NOT To Do
- Do not use acidic descalers or alkaline degreasers on Eternia frames - damages powder coating.
- Do not scrub across the grain of extrusion profiles.
- Do not ignore weep hole blockage - Eternia sliding systems can accumulate monsoon debris in the bottom track.
