Why This System

CSG glass is distributed into markets where professional window cleaning infrastructure is less developed - Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. This matters for building owners and managers: glass installed in these environments is often cleaned with whatever is available rather than appropriate professional products. CSG Low-E glass in these markets is exposed to exactly the kind of wrong cleaning approaches that degrade coating performance: abrasive cloths, alkaline household cleaners, and dry scrubbing.

Southeast Asian humidity and UV loading stress glazing unit seals faster than temperate climates. Middle Eastern sand and dust events (haboob season) deposit fine abrasive particles that must be flushed before any mechanical cleaning action. African coastal sites accumulate salt air loading that attacks spacer bar coatings at unit edges. In all three export markets, pre-rinsing is the non-negotiable first step.

Official Care Guidance

No official guide published. The steps below are based on Justin Orloff's 25 years hands-on experience with this system.

Step 2 of 2: The Orloffs Protocol

The Orloffs Protocol

This is how I clean CSG Holding windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for CSG Holding systems.

Pro Tools

My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.

1Ettore Squeegee 14"
2Unger HiFlo Pure Water Pole
3Moerman Liquidator
4Boab Belt System

Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every CSG Holding installation.

  1. 1

    1. Pre-rinse all glass surfaces with clean water. In desert environments after a dust event, this step is critical - fine silica particles under a squeegee scratch glass surfaces permanently.

  2. 2

    2. Apply pH-neutral cleaning solution. In tropical Southeast Asian environments, allow extra dwell time on mould and algae growth at frame edges.

  3. 3

    3. Squeegee glass top to bottom with a clean blade in good condition.

  4. 4

    4. Wipe glazing perimeters and sills. In salt-air coastal locations, pay attention to spacer bar and unit edge condition - salt ingress accelerates unit seal failure.

  5. 5

    5. Clear any frame drainage channels. In tropical markets, leaf matter and organic debris block weep holes faster than in temperate climates.

Pro Tips

  • In Middle Eastern markets after a haboob dust event, never start cleaning without a full pre-rinse - the fine silica in haboob dust is highly abrasive on glass surfaces.
  • In Southeast Asian markets, mould growth on EPDM seals and frame gaskets appears faster than in temperate climates - check and note seal condition every visit.
  • CSG photovoltaic glass on solar installations requires specialist cleaning protocols separate from architectural glass - do not apply standard architectural glass cleaning products to solar panel glass without confirming compatibility.

What NOT To Do

  • Do not use abrasive cleaning materials on CSG Low-E glass.
  • Do not skip the pre-rinse step in dusty or sand-exposed environments.
  • Do not use alkaline or acid-based cleaners on CSG coated glass units.

Cleaning Frequency

Monthly in tropical Southeast Asian environments. Every 6-8 weeks in Middle Eastern urban environments; after every significant dust event. Every 6-8 weeks on African coastal installations; increase frequency in winter storm seasons.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I clean CSG Holding windows?
For CSG Holding windows, Monthly in tropical Southeast Asian environments. Every 6-8 weeks in Middle Eastern urban environments; after every significant dust event. Every 6-8 weeks on African coastal installations; increase frequency in winter storm seasons.. Coastal or urban locations may need more frequent cleaning.
What tools do I need for CSG Holding windows?
Professional cleaning of CSG Holding windows requires my daily tool list of: Ettore Squeegee 14", Unger HiFlo Pure Water Pole, Moerman Liquidator, Boab Belt System.
What should I avoid on CSG Holding windows?
Do not use abrasive cleaning materials on CSG Low-E glass.
Does CSG Holding publish an official cleaning guide?
CSG Holding has not published an official cleaning guide. The protocol on this page is based on Justin Orloff's 25 years hands-on experience.
Can I use a water-fed pole on CSG Holding windows?
Yes, purified water via a water-fed pole is one of the safest methods for CSG Holding glass. Ensure TDS is at or near zero before use and avoid directing high-pressure water at seals or gaskets.

Field Notes

β€œOn Southeast Asian high-rise projects where CSG glass has been specified, the most common post-construction soiling type is silicone sealant smearing across glass panels from facade joint sealing works. Silicone smear on Low-E glass requires a dedicated silicone remover product - not standard detergent and not mechanical scraping. Confirm product compatibility before treating large elevations.”
