Why This System
ASAŞ produces profiles for fabricators rather than selling complete window systems under one brand - this means an ASAŞ-profiled aluminium window in Istanbul and the same profile system in Ankara may carry different glass specifications, hardware, and sealing configurations depending on the fabricator. For cleaning, the profile material and finish are the constant: powder-coated aluminium and Asaşpen uPVC both require pH-neutral care, but the detail cleaning approach must adapt to what the fabricator has built around the ASAŞ profile.
ASAŞ powder-coated aluminium profiles on Mediterranean coastal installations face salt air, UV, and periodic high-humidity condensation. Salt deposits on powder coat surfaces must be rinsed rather than scrubbed - salt crystals under a cleaning cloth abrade the coating. Asaşpen uPVC profiles on continental interior installations face UV cycling and temperature extremes that stress frame seals - seal maintenance is a priority on these systems.

The Orloffs Protocol
This is how I clean ASAŞ Aluminium windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for ASAŞ Aluminium systems.
Pro Tools
My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.
Follow these steps in order. Each one builds on the last. This is the same sequence I use on every ASAŞ Aluminium installation.
- 1
1. On coastal installations, pre-rinse the entire window with clean water before any cleaning product is applied. Salt deposit on powder-coated aluminium must be flushed, not scrubbed.
- 2
2. Apply pH-neutral solution to glass and frames. Do not use acid-based cleaners on powder-coated ASAŞ aluminium - even dilute acid attacks the anodic layer under the coating over time.
- 3
3. Squeegee glass top to bottom. Wipe blade between passes.
- 4
4. Wipe aluminium profiles with a separate damp microfibre cloth. On Asaşpen uPVC, use pH-neutral only - no solvent contact.
- 5
5. Clear weep holes and sill drainage with a soft brush. Turkish coastal sites accumulate salt residue in drainage channels - flush with clean water after brushing.
Pro Tips
- On Turkish Mediterranean coastal sites, increase cleaning frequency in summer - salt air plus UV bakes residue onto powder-coated aluminium faster than in northern climates.
- In Anatolian interior installations, check seals at the start of each clean - temperature cycling from minus 20C winters to 40C+ summers stresses Asaşpen uPVC seals faster than moderate climates.
- ASAŞ powder coat finishes come in a wide colour range including dark tones - dark powder coat shows water spots more than light finishes. Final wipe-down with a dry microfibre cloth is worth the extra minute on dark-framed elevations.
What NOT To Do
- Do not use acid-based cleaners on ASAŞ powder-coated aluminium profiles.
- Do not scrub salt deposits on coastal elevations - pre-rinse to dissolve first, then clean.
- Do not use solvent-based products near Asaşpen uPVC seals or frames.

Frequently Asked Questions
Field Notes
“ASAŞ aluminium profiles are used widely across Turkish commercial construction where fabricators self-brand the finished window system. On commercial sites, ask the building manager for the profile supplier if the brand is not visible - knowing whether the frame is ASAŞ aluminium or Asaşpen uPVC determines which cleaning products are appropriate.”
