Why This System
Because Aluar is Argentina's only domestic aluminium smelter, their material permeates the Argentine window fabrication industry. A cleaner working on Argentine aluminium windows almost certainly encounters Aluar-derived profiles regularly, whether they know it or not. The finished window quality depends entirely on the fabricator who processed the Aluar profiles. Aluar profile material is consistent in quality. Fabrication standards, coating quality, hardware, and sealing vary across the fabrication industry. Puerto Madryn in Patagonia has a severe coastal climate - strong winds, salt air from the South Atlantic, and cold temperatures. Interestingly, Aluar's home climate is harsher than most of the Argentine market where their profiles are ultimately installed.

The Orloffs Protocol
This is how I clean Aluar Aluminio Argentino windows. The tools and technique below come from 25 years of daily professional work on the glass. Every step has been tested on real installations and adapted specifically for Aluar Aluminio Argentino systems.
Pro Tools
My daily tool list. This is what I carry to every job.
Pro Tips
- In Patagonia, check the wind forecast the day before scheduling outdoor cleaning - strong westerly winds make glass cleaning impossible and physically dangerous at height
- Salt deposit rinsing is the critical first step on all coastal Argentine installations before applying any cleaning solution
What NOT To Do
- Do not use abrasive pads on powder-coated aluminium profiles
- Do not clean in high-wind conditions in Patagonian installations - wind-blown grit is abrasive on wet glass
- Do not use acid or alkaline cleaners on aluminium
- Do not assume uniform fabrication quality across Aluar-profile windows - assess each fabricator's product independently

Frequently Asked Questions
Field Notes
โPatagonian wind conditions are the most extreme cleaning environment in Argentina. Wind speeds in Chubut and Santa Cruz provinces regularly exceed 60 km/h. Do not attempt glass cleaning in these conditions - reschedule. Buenos Aires coastal positions (Costanera, Puerto Madero) face salt air from the Rio de la Plata. Increase cleaning frequency on these installations compared to inland Buenos Aires positions. In dry western Argentina (Mendoza, San Juan), the main frame concern is UV-induced powder coat chalking. Inspect west-facing elevations specifically for chalking at every visit.โ
